Come and Sing to our Lord this coming Sunday May 9th

This coming Sunday, May the 9th, at GCCBG we will be singing the hymns posted below. We will also observe the Lord’s Supper and introduce a new hymn. As we get ready to worship I would like to challenge us to really think about what worship really is and the reason we gather together. Why do we sing together? Why do we read and listen to the word of God together? Why do or should we participate?

Here are some passages to guide us answering this questions:

  • Heb 10:25
  • 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

  • Acts 2:42
  • 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

  • 1 Corinth. 12:24b-25
  • 24 … But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

  • 2 Tim 3:16
  • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Read and pray on these passages. Hopefully they will encourage you and guide your heart to really be prepared as you come and worship God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. You should want to do that. Sunday’s worship service should be something we look forward to. You should want to participate. Remember one more thing, Sunday’s worship service is not about us, it is about our Lord Christ. It should focus on what He has done, and continues to do in our lives. Let us all celebrate that.

Regarding music Martin Luther said:

….Music is a servant created and given by God.

So be ready to use this gift as an offering to our God, the giver of this and many other gifts and talents to us.

9:30 Morning Service

  • Higher Throne
  • Come Thou Fount
  • Fairest Lord Jesus
  • In Christ Alone

If you don’t know one of these hymns, come and learn it with us! See you then.
