A Sacrifice in worship!

In the old testament and in the new testament we read that, sacrifices were offered to ask for forgiveness for the sins one committed. Well, it is 2009 and even today in the Catholic Church you can see some of that same behavior. People have to walk on the knees for blocks until they have “paid” for what they have done. At the end of the day this is what their actions says: We need to do this to calm our souls, or what it is even scarier, to calm the wrath of GOD. We have the idea that when we do that, we are worshiping God. But in fact what we are doing is worshiping our egos. Worshiping our circumstances. Now, notice that I have said WE, not the catholic church anymore because we tend to do the same in God’s worship. I know, for a fact that I have done it myself! How many times do I have to to play the perfect SCALE in C Major, so I can say: I give you the best PERFECT ” walk on my knees ” sacrifice.

CHALLENGE ONE: When we come to church, and worship, do we present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice? Or do we present the LAMB OF GOD, as the living sacrifice? What are you sacrificing and who are you sacrificing? We can never do, even in the best of our intentions, what Jesus Christ was able to do for us! So, for all musicians that are involved in the ministry of God’s word through music, I wanted to challenge you not to think of our singing or our playing as the sacrifice, but to think in this way, “I sing to the Mighty power of GOD! ” I sing to what you have done, and here is our sacrifice Lord, Your Son, whom is perfect and I can not give any other sacrifice because it would not suffice!

This coming Sunday we will have the honor to be a part of the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.  My prayer is that God can grants us the right heart for that moment. It is not our blood. Let us remember HIM!

I hope this can be of encouragement as we celebrate together this coming Sunday. That we may find the right focus always as we worship. Bringing Jesus Christ as the center of worship. As the Perfect Sacrifice.

“my righteousness shall not be abolished…but my righteousness shall be forever” (Isa 51:6,8).

“Behold, the days come…that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers…which…they brake…But this shall be the covenant that I will make…After those days…I will put my law in their inward parts, and write them in their hearts” (Jer 31:31-33; Heb 8:10).

THE RIGHT Sacrifice:

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly… while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
“Much more then, having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
“For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
“And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the atonement” (Rom 5:1,6,7-11).
